Kindness Confetti Crew began in the summer of 2016 with a simple idea: children deserve meaningful opportunities to connect with their community.

When our founder, Danielle, couldn't find many age-appropriate ways for her young children to volunteer alongside others, she decided to start a neighborhood kindness club and planned ten weeks of summer service projects. Twenty-six children showed up for the very first meeting at the neighborhood clubhouse, eager to make a difference together. Everyone wore matching t-shirts, built friendships, and spent the summer learning that kindness can take many forms, including thank-you notes to community leaders, bingo at the senior center, or a door-to-door food drive for a local pantry.

Over the next several years, Kindness Confetti Crew became a beloved neighborhood tradition. Some weeks, more than 50 children and caregivers gathered to learn about the organizations strengthening our community and to find thoughtful ways to support the work they were already doing. Participants invited friends from school to join. Neighbors without young children helped donate supplies and funding for our outreach projects. As our founder’s children grew, they showed interest in planning activities and helping lead the group.

Like so many community organizations, the pandemic changed everything. When KCC was finally able to gather again, the attendance was much smaller. It would have been easy to let the club quietly fade away, but instead it became an opportunity to reimagine what Kindness Confetti Crew could be.

In 2024, Molly and Savannah became the co-leaders of KCC. Eager for a way to bring KCC back to life, the organization expanded as our weekly summer meetings were moved from the neighborhood clubhouse to the local library. Participating at the library started a new chapter and welcomed families from across the community. Savannah and Molly launched a newsletter and website as well as created a social media presence. They partnered with local camps and expanded KCC’s reach by adding activities throughout the year. Their creativity and dedication introduced hundreds of new families to kid-friendly opportunities to serve, creating even more connections between young people and the incredible nonprofits who make a monumental difference in our community.

Today, Kindness Confetti Crew exists to make service accessible, joyful, and meaningful for children and families. We believe the strongest communities are built through relationships, and that the most impactful service begins with listening. Rather than creating projects for the sake of doing something, we seek to come alongside community nonprofits to support the work they have already identified as important. Our role is not to lead that work, but to help more families discover it and become part of it.

We are continually inspired by the generosity of our community and by the dedication of the nonprofit organizations, educators, librarians, and volunteers who serve others every day. It is a privilege to learn from them and to play a small part in their efforts. Most of all, we are grateful for every child, caregiver, and community partner who has helped us spread kindness like confetti into the world with us. Thank you.
