Saturday Family Volunteer Event

On Saturday, June 27, we hosted our first Saturday Family Volunteer Event. Since branching out from a neighborhood-focused group into a community-wide organization, we have done our best to reach a wide variety of groups - the tiniest toddlers just learning to color up through high school teens growing as leaders... children who were home for the summer and children who were at camps most of the day... young families looking for a way to contribute and grandparents with youngsters in town for the week.

This summer, we wanted to make the effort to reach families who wanted to serve TOGETHER, but couldn't do so during the week, so we jumped in with both feet and created a HUGE Family Volunteer Event with EIGHT different ways to serve others and spread kindness and joy through our community -- and it was a HUGE success! We had 101 community members join in the fun!

In two hours, our participants created:

  • 100 friendship bracelets to include in our bagged lunches for Roof Above

  • 179 mental health information kits for NAMI

  • 35 door decorations for the Ronald McDonald House

  • 45 patriotic placemats for the Lancaster Council on Aging Lunch Programs

  • 51 bookmarks for the Del Webb Library

  • 85 tie toys for the Lancaster Animal Shelter

  • 75 seed bombs to help attract pollinators to our community

  • 60 kindness rocks painted to spread joy in our community

What a great way to spend a Saturday morning spreading kindness like confetti!!
